Incredible Medical Benefits of Marijuana: 3 Reasons to Smoke More Weed

March 12, 2020

Is marijuana the miracle drug we've all been searching for?

The truth is we still don't know, but there's a lot of research going into its healing powers.

And the results?

Well, they are fascinating, exciting and show a lot of potential.

Over the last decade, more and more studies have come out showing Cannabodioil's (a phytocannabinoid found in cannabis) potential for alleviating chronic pain, life-threatening diseases and improving ones overall quality of life.

Here are three incredible medical benefits of marijuana backed up by science.

Marijuana Helps Fight Cancer (But It's Not a Cure)

Marijuana isn't a cure for cancer - yet.

But it's doing a damn good job at getting us closer to one.

Over the last couple of years, scientists have found that the active components of marijuana do incredible things for cancer patients.

Such as:

  • Shrinking the blood vessels that supply tumours.

  • Working in tandem with chemotherapy to protect healthy cells and stop cancer growth.

  • Stimulating an appetite and helping patients overcome nutritional issues caused by radiation and chemotherapy.

Okay, so I know what you're thinking.

"WHERE'S THE EVIDENCE TO BACK THIS UP?!"

There is tons of research, my friend.

  • The American Association of Cancer Research backs up the claim that marijuana slows down tumour growth.

  • A 2014 study showed marijuana slowing down the growth of a type of brain tumour associated with malignant brain cancer.

  • In the CNN documentary, WEED, it mentioned studies in the U.S., Spain and Israel which suggested cannabis compounds could kill cancer cells.

  • In a study published by Molecular Cancer Therapeutics, it found that Cannabidiol has the ability to turn off the gene Id-1.

What's an Id-1 gene got to do with cancer?
Well, the cancer cells make copies of it and use it spread the disease throughout the body.

Marijuana puts a stop to those shenanigans and shuts down the house party cancer is having in your body.

Cannabis Reduces Seizures in Dravet's Syndrome Patients

There are tons of videos online showing children and adults suffering from Dravet's Syndrome thriving after using cannabis to treat their seizures.

The Cannabidiol (CBD) in weed basically tells the brain cells to chill out with the excessive activities that cause seizures.

One five years old girl, Charlotte Figi, went from having 300 seizures a week to one every seven days. Other studies have shown seizures going down as much as 50% when patients use Cannabidiol.

Weed Can Help Prevent Alzheimer's

The idea of Alzeheimer's is terrifying.

The disorder causes brain cells to degenerate and die, causing the person to forget their friends, family, and how to do basic tasks.

Luckily, there is new research pointing to marijuana as a potential cure.

In a 2006 study by the Scripps Research Institute, Kim Janda (the lead researcher) discovered that THC slows the formation of amyloid plaques.

These plaques are what kill brain cells and can lead to Alzheimer's disease.

More Research on the Benefits of Cannabis is Needed

All these studies into the various medical uses of cannabis are fascinating. It's exciting to see how the properties of one plant can help so many people around the world.

But, it's important to remember that research into marijuana's medical properties is still in its infancy.

If you're interested in using weed to improve your health, always reach out to a doctor first. Your physician can guide you through any potential risks as well as how to obtain things like a medical marijuana card legally.

5 Incredible Health Benefits of Drinking Green Tea

March 10, 2020

Are you struggling with your metabolism, acne or diabetes? Do you want to reverse the clock on your skin WITHOUT paying hundreds of dollars for injectables?

Then it's time to get on the green tea train, my friend!

I know it sounds like one of those trendy, fad diets (I'm looking at you Keto).  After all, what can a bunch of leaves ACTUALLY do for your health?

It turns out, quite a lot.

Green tea is considered one of the healthiest drinks in the world, and it lives up to the hype.

Here are five incredible health benefits of drinking green tea and the science to back it up.

It Boosts Your Metabolism

Is your metabolism that annoying Sunday driver who won't get out of the fast lane and insists on driving 40 kilometres per hour?

Instead of going full hulk mode and shouting every single obscenity you know out of frustration - drink some green tea.

The polyphenols (a fancy way of saying a category of plant compounds) in green tea can boost your metabolism and help you to lose body fat.

While that sounds like some sleazy Saturday morning infomercial trying to sell you the latest miracle diet pill - green tea's calorie-burning effects are backed by science.

The compounds increase the levels of hormones that tell fat cells to break down fat.

The result?

More fat is released into your bloodstream, and it's ready for you to burn off as energy!

It's Anti-Inflammatory

Inflammation is something we don't think about before it's too late.

A steady diet of refined sugars, carbs and processed foods can lead to our bodies giving us the middle finger and laying down the law with chronic illnesses like arthritis, Alzheimer's and diabetes.

If you want to avoid that or reverse the damage you've done, pop the kettle on and brew a cup of green tea.

EGCG (a plant compound found in green tea) is a powerful inflammation fighter. In fact, research shows that it is 100 times more potent than vitamin C.

Green tea is essentially the Super Sayian of antioxidant polyphenols, and it's ready to serve inflammation its eviction papers.

It Makes Your Heart Strong

Here's a fun fact:

In a study of 40,000 adults, researchers found that drinking green tea on the daily can reduce:

  • Heart disease

  • Strokes

  • Some cancers

How incredible is that?!

A couple of cured green leaves in hot water can lower your risk of cardiovascular death by 16%!

It Can Cure Your Acne

Raise your hand if you've ever been personally victimised by acne.

If you've tried everything from over-the-counter medicines to more extreme solutions like Accutane and you still can't win with your skin, give green tea a try.

Its antioxidants and antibacterial properties make it a natural remedy for treating acne and unclogging pores.

In a study by Psychopharmacology, more than 80 women started using a decaffeinated green tea extract to treat their breakouts.

When compared to those in the group who took the placebo, the women had far fewer pimples around their nose, mouth and chin after four weeks.

It Can Help Prevent Wrinkles & Signs of Aging

Green tea is the fountain of youth we've all been looking for ya'll!

You don't need to fork out a couple of hundred dollars for botox. You can get a similar effect on a budget.

Scientists have found that drinking green tea on the regular can reduce skin damage, promote anti-wrinkling processes and delay collagen aging.

So how do steamed leaves prevent signs of aging?

Well, green tea is full of Vitamin B2 and Vitamin E. Both are essential to maintaining collagen levels, new skin cell growth and saying goodbye to unwanted wrinkles.

Green Tea is Magical, and We Are Not Worthy

What are you waiting for?

Add green tea to your grocery list for the month and sip your way to a healthier and younger you!
